New - Threaded Comment Replies Added To All Blogger Comment Forms

One of the most popular posts on Spice Up Your Blog over the last few years has been "How to add comment replies to your blog".While that tutorial was a valid option to allow readers to reply to comments it did not place the reply to each comment in a threaded fashion. In fact many of the comments on that post asked was it possible to have the reply placed under the original comment. After so many many requests the Blogger Team have taken note and today Threaded comment replies are now available on Blogger.

How to activate comment replies on Blogger

For most people the threaded comment replies will be activated automatically on your blog.If you cant see the comment replies here is a check list to get them working :

Comment form is set as embed - Go to your settings > Comments > Comment Form Placement > Tick "Embedded below post" and make sure to scroll to the foot of the page and save.

Site feed is set to full - Got to settings > Site feed > Allow Blog Feeds > From the drop down menu choose " Full" and make sure to scroll to the foot of the page and save.

Clear the cache- It could be a cache issue so clear your browsers cache.Instructions for all browsers can be found Here.

If none of this is working it could be your template, leave a comment.

That's it, its good to know the Blogger team listen to the users and work hard to implement their suggestions. You can see the official blogger post on threaded comment replies here.

  1. Sweet!

I saw this a couple of hours ago and have been waiting for you to post coz i have a question ;D

now, i understand the directions and have confirmed them BUT the part that states "Site feed is set to full" is the problem:

I recently started auto updating my posts to facebook via networkedblogs and rss feed and i realised that when "site feed is set to full" instead of "until break", my auto-posts on facebook and rss feed don't know how much information to give in the description.

Do u understand what i mean?

Is there any way to fix this?

    Thanx in advance Paul!

  3. What if we had incorporated your quick fix in the past for replying to comments. Will this affect the use of the new threaded comments? Do I need to do anything (delete code, etc.) to ensure that this new feature works properly?

  7. I've still got the coding you supplied last year on my template - will that need to come off now? If I decide not to go to a full feed does that mean that I will never be able to have nestled blogger comments?

  8. On my blog comment replies have been activated automatically and I like it. In recent days Google screwed up my Picasa photo uploading by connecting it to Google+. I wasn't too happy with them. I did eventually on my own get it fixed up. It's hard for me to get mad a people that are supplying a service at not $$$ cost to me. Thanks for the heads up on this new feature.

    2. Is this how it looks Paul? threaded comment? or is this a modification on your part?.
It's really great, just that the 'ADMIN' blotch covers some of your text.

  9. I use the Disqus-tool - like it very much, since you can also edit your reply after you've published it! :-D

  12. That sounds awesome! But I've done all the above and I can't seem to get the reply button on the comments. Do you think it might be the template? Here's my blog: http://book-spark.blogspot.com/

  22. It seems many people have the same problem I have. I am not able to reply to those who comment on my blog, and yes, I did complete all the steps shown. I'm able to reply to someone else of another blogger blog, but not my own. This is so frustrating. It seems like blogger needs to work out a few kinks.

  27. I got so many emails from people outside the US, telling me they couldn't comment on the blog unless the comments were in pop up window format, that eventually I changed it to that. Seems a bummer I have to change it to embedded just to get the threaded reply. Seems like there are lot of bugs still yet.
