So far we have talked about buying domain names directly from blogger, of course Blogger is owned by Google so in fact you are buying from Google (You are using Enom but lets not make it too confusing).

Once you bought your domain you were given a Google Apps account, Remember ?

Creating A Blog And Connecting To Your Sub Domain

If you are creating a sub domain for your blog you have obviously already gone through the process of connecting a domain to blogger.Connecting your sub domain is the very same.

You create your new blog, pick a name, choose the blogspot URL - you will be changing this to your sub domain so its not important.

Once your new blog is set up go to Settings > Publishing > Switch To Advanced Settings > Enter the Sub domain you created into the area provided > Scroll to the bottom of the page and save.

As with your original domain your blogger sub domain may take a little time to connect although usually it connects within a few hours.

I hope you can follow the steps and take advantage of Sub Domains, remember if you do not renew a domain or let a domain expire you will loose the domain and all associated sub domains.

  1. Thanks so much for this! I was having a hard time finding a good tutorial for it but luckily came across this one. Very happy with my blog improvements now! :)

  2. This was so totally helpful!!! Clear and easy to follow! How do I link it to my main domain now? Is that another post? (I haven't even looked yet, hence my probably obvious question)

  3. Awesome tutorial ! I have just created a subdomain for my blog, an error 404 page. I just have one question, tho.

The blog I created still have the free blogspot subdomain in it. I mapped things so that the subdomain links to the new blogs. It works.

Did I miss something or the subdomain of my main blog and the new blog I created will have the same url in the next few hours ?

  4. Yes, I agree with Maegan. Very clear and precise. I have successfully created my first subdomain. But... now how do I link it into my domain? If there is another post explaining this, can a link be posted?

  5. Wanted to ask if there is a limit to Subdomains per Domain or not?

  6. error - it says:
A record is invalid: Address: must be an IP

  8. HI there!
Just a little question! Since my main blog that I converted to a main domain is already redirecting my naked url ( instead of that means I cannot use this blog anymore in redictering my sub-domain?
I would then need to create another blog, using the same blogger log-in, and then do the redirection on that another blog, right????
Pardon me for this question but it's just really bugging me.. :))

    Thank you in advance!

  9. Thank you SO much for walking me through this. I was having such a tough time and this was such a relief to stumble upon. Clear and concise - just the way I like it. :D

  12. I have a ton of subdomains thanks to this tutorial. My question now is how to get Google to crawl all subdomains and see them as parts of my main .com! I have an rss sitemap for my .com but I want to submit a sitemap that includes all my subdomains. I cant upload a sitemap due to the fact that my .com is through Google so I can't upload to the root file. How can I get all of my subdoamins linked to my domain through a "sitema:? I hope I'm explaining this right. Thanks!!!!! ;)

  13. Superb! i was about to migrate to wp, but you saved me :D

  14. I've been trying to get this to work for several weeks now since my host provider never really gave me any instructions, they just told me I should contact Google. But this helped and now it works! Thank you so much!

  15. This isn't working for me. When i get to Step 4 i'm shown a different Google Apps dashboard than you are. Instead of the dashboard, i get a welcome page with links to my Google Apps services to the side, such as "Sites", "Drive and Docs", "Calendar", etc.. nowhere on the page does it have a domain settings tab.

  16. this is simple, effective info. Thanks so much

  17. Every post you write becomes so useful. Thanks mate!

  18. Thankyou for this tutorial, I visit your blog alot! I am having terrible problems getting my custom domain to even attach to my blog, keeps saying it is used by another blog or google site which isnt true because I purchased it myself, what could be the issue
