Blogger launched
Dynamic Views templates in March last year.Dynamic Views work great on some blogs but they are not for everyone, one of the features lacking was a sidebar for gadgets.Today Blogger have gone some way towards fixing this with a slide out sidebar. The sidebar is docked on the side of the page and appears on hover. Not all gadgets can be added, at the moment gadgets supported in Dynamic Views include: Blog Archive, Followers, Labels, Profile, Subscribe (a new gadget - automatically present if either Follow By Email or Subscription installed), and Link List. These gadgets make it easier for your readers to navigate your blog (archive, labels), and to follow it (followers and RSS).
Dynamic Views are a set of templates that make it easy and fun to explore a blog. As you might expect, we’ve made the gadgets interactive too. Instead of appearing in a panel that consumes valuable real estate on your blog, gadgets now appear in a dock that slides in and out as you move your cursor over them.
You can see the slide out sidebar in action and read the official post on the
official Blogger blog.

Nice and interesting.what took them so long?
ReplyDeleteBlogger has really been fast at attending to the needs and issues of it's users since the new interface it seems. I don't use dynamic views but I think it is awesome Blogger is kicking so much ass at things these days.
ReplyDeleteAny tricks to implement this on unofficial templates?
ReplyDeleteIt's only for the Dynamic Views and wont work on standard templates from the template designer or custom 'unofficial' templates...
DeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeletethat's right, new feature anymore \m/
ReplyDeleteNeat but since the "docked" view is just that black verticle line, most readers won't even notice it unless they happen to move their cursor over it. The "docked" view should be more like the "undocked" view so readers will know it's there and what it is.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Chris, hopefully this is just a first version of the sidebar and more options will be added..
DeleteIt's just a view of what blogger will become and much better than wordpress.
ReplyDeleteI like the dock, but the dynamic templates are not for serious bloggers just yet. I would like to add the dock to the older templates. Is there a way to do that?
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Hi
ReplyDeleteThe dynamic view looks great!!!
but as the follow and subscribe button are docked none of my friends are able to follow my blog!
Is there a way to undock it??
It is good one but it is not applicable to blogs who have full screen width. I liked it very much....but...can not use it since my blog covers whole screen space.
ReplyDeletehii
